About this group

Team Vanilla was founded in order to let students of Japanese have a first experience with translating, especially Doujinshi and H-Manga.

You know some Japanese and want to give it a try? Leave a comment!

Hi Rae. We don’t have cleaners or proofreaders: it’s almost always one editor per project, and everyone pitches in on QC.
If you’d like to do a project with us, you can find a list of available ones here: http://tv.littlewhitebutterflies.net/recruitment/

I’ll shoot you a mail tomorrow, it’s pretty damn late here already…

I have a question to you guys.

What font do you use when Typesetting your translated works?

    Thanks!

Standard fonts are Wild Words (what I prefer) or Anime Ace (which gives me eye cancer… it’s the new comic sans lol).

But we use many others as well, I like Comic Lafayette Pro and AmazGoda.

Laffayette needs more typefaces, though… Having to use ALL CAPS as the bold is kinda annoying. Plus, I hate skewing the font just to get it italics… but still, Laffayette is one of my favorites. :)

    Hey,
I’ve been a student of Japanese for about 5 months now, live in Japan, and study a lot. I know about 750 kanji (on, kun, meanings) and am always looking for opportunities to learn more. If you guys need any help translating, or would just be cool enough to hook me up with the raws of the stuff you translate, that would be awesome!

    Thanks,

Hello! I’m EdMX from GTeam Translations. :)

I saw Nash’s comment in our latest release of French Letter (Remilia), and out of curiosity, I checked LWB/Team V out. I’m not so familiar with these circles, but it’s pleasing to know that I share the same reasons as do you regarding why I enjoy translating in the first place. Admittedly, it’s thanks to translating things like this that my studies in Japanese have improved quite drastically – that and given that fact that I’m learning the language all by myself!

That said, It’d be great to work on collaborations with you guys, in the future, and hopefully I can learn and grow alongside you guys.

Oh, and lastly… you guys did a translation on Clesta CL-orz’4 [Amagami]? Sweet! That so made my day. :)

        Lucky you lol.

My upstream is capped at 25kbps for whatever fucking reason. Though I’m supposed to have a 16mbit line.

But I can’t really do anything about it, as the one in charge of taking care of it is a lazy schmuck and nagging will only make him do less about it lol.

Hey guys, I’m a decently skilled photoshopper, mainly doing school projects at my college. I’m wondering if you guys need an editor or proofreader.

      Hey there,

If you are interested in editing and proofreader (there is no stand-alone proofer post, sorry) you can drop your application topic here – http://littlewhitebutterflies.org/forums/ Just follow the stickied application guideline. With C78 coming up we can use all help!

TV shares it’s forums with LWB, so (if you are interested) you can work on those stuff as well.

Hi there,I’d like to try to translate a bit. I already tried to translate some bondage stuff from gurochan, which I could send you. But in fact it did take very long, because I’ve just been learning Japanese for 2 semesters (3rd started yesterday), so that I just know the basics. But I hope to grow with this (and doujins actually don’t have complex philosophical content or something like that) and I dare to say, that I’m used to hearing Japanese over the last 5 years in Animes, so that I should be fast to learn new vocabulary.

It’s a great idea you came up with! I hope this becomes a positive experience; for both you and your collaborators.

I can’t speak Japanese, but with some help from dictionaries I am almost fluent in the written aspect of the language (big VN/doujinshi/manga fan, not so much anime anymore). If you’re kind enough to give me a chance, I’ll show you what I can do!
