Team Vanilla

Initially, I was planning to rage about NTR-rage, but then I realised that it’ll only cause pointless internet-fights. Instead I’ll rant about author and content.

I picked this trilogy up to do something with author-content contrast. Something like that Miyabi Tsuzuru vanilla earlier. I was pleasantly surprised. ET is a genius! His vanilla is enough to give regular vanilla artist a run for their money. The plot itself is simple, but the setting, pacing, character design is amazing! What probably stands out most is the panel placement. That was just perfect, imo. I was like “EEETEE! Y U NO DRAW MOAR BANIRA?” the whole time and then… it hit me. ET does not need to draw vanilla. He is a capable man. Any content he does will be awesome! Rape? Good! Cheating? Good! Tentacles? AllMyMunnies! Dreader NTR? Yesss!

The point being if the artist is capable of pulling a different genre skillfully, then fans, by all means, should support him/ her. Not everyone can do this, mind you (coughNekomataFailiM@SVanillaRapecough). And the fact that someone can create different genre stuff IS their talent itself.

So my message to (mostly vanillafag) fans is that, the next time your favourite artist does something outside his usual box, read it, give it a chance and then judge. Hisasi fans, I’m looking at you – the last couple releases were a little less sugary, but fuck they were good! It’s all acquired taste (like alcohol), I understand, but don’t call it bad without even taking the first sip.
