The days where I started learning 3D Modelling and animation on my own during school tended to shove a lot of school things out of the way. That said, my first major job ended up being on the 3D stuff, not the crap I learned in school, through coincidence more than me actually looking for a 3D-based position.

That should be “was there a time today.” I do that all the time. When I get focused on something, I tend to lose track of all time and my surroundings until I accomplish whatever it is I’m trying to do. This gets especially bad when I’m programming/writing webpages/that sort of thing, although it has gotten pretty bad when I was writing fiction as well.
